Reward scheme to combat illegal photocopying of newspapers and magazines
HKCLA funds a Reward Scheme which will be managed and operated by the Customs & Excise Department of the Government of the HKSAR starting from 16 February 2011. Eligibility:
(1) Infringers infringed copyright work contained in newspaper(s) or magazine(s) published by members of HKCLA; and

(2) informer must not be a member of the Customs and Excise Service nor a person having a responsibility for protecting intellectual property rights.

Any eligible informer, who has provided information required by the Customs, leading to one of the results specified below, shall be eligible for reward(s) as indicated below:

Initial Payment: Any information leading to arrest of suspect and seizure of infringing copies in printed form being made for distribution/distributed within any period of 14 days:

a reward of HK$5,000 for 501 to 1,000 infringing pages
a reward of HK$10,000 for more than 1,000 infringing pages

Additional Payment: Any information leading to any criminal conviction under the Copyright Ordinance, Cap. 528:

a reward of HK$5,000 for 501 to 1,000 infringing pages
a reward of HK$10,000 for more than 1,000 infringing pages
